I went here to walk around with a friend. We parked and started walking with no idea and no indication by any signs of where we were going or where we would end up or how long it would take to hike the path. Luckily we ran into some guys going the opposite direction. While they were equally confused, we asked them how long it had taken them to get to this point so that we knew a little better what we were getting into. They really need some signs about this stuff. Also, it was a little difficult to tell where the "path" was at times. We really had no idea where we were going, but we did find our way and everything turned out fine. We started by crossing the bridge over the gulch, which is where Jesse James jumped across to escape the authorities so my friend kept telling me. I was seriously impressed until she told me it was on horseback. Less impressed but kinda cool I guess -- Jesse James is an OG. It took less than 2 hours for us to leisurely explore the place. It is really pretty, but not as well maintained as Palisades State Park, which is nearby and they give you a map when you enter. Basically, I'd go to the Palisades over Devil's Gulch. read more
