Assumption is just a rinky dink town, but there's a pretty good place for drinks and food. DJ's is a kind of new place that opened a few months ago maybe. It has mostly a typical menu for a town in nowhere kind of restaurant. For the most part of course. They surprisingly even have an Impossible Burger, so don't assume it's all stuck in the past around here.
Found out about it after searching Yelp for places, and we made a detour. It's about 20 or so miles south of Decatur, so quite a long way from anything notable. This is also one of the few restaurants in town. Going in, it ended up being a lot nicer than expected. This was no hillbilly type of saloon. Actually it felt like it was rather classy. They have mostly a menu of typical stuff like burgers, pretzels, and more. Good drinks. It's about $5 a pint. They have selections from the local Cypress Grove Brewery on tap. I got the Irish Daughters. This is an Irish ale, of course, and was crisp and smooth. Also they have an Impossible Burger. It's about $16 and comes with a side choice. The kettle chips are best with it, and crispy good.
Even though it was a high price, it was worth it, and this certainly has to be the most expensive restaurant in Assumption. It has better prices on local beers. There's good food options for meat eaters and vegetarians. read more
