Read the reviews about this place and the menu looked good when we checked it out first. Called to make a reservation and we were told that we can get a table at 7:45pm ( I called around 6pm) and then the lady said to come down as the patio was FCFS anyways. We came down , had a short wait and got seated inside. Nicely laid out space - got a window booth so we can kind of look outside at the patio patrons.
Perused the menu - offered 3 items for kids, mocktails and varied items that would suit GF and vegetarian diners. We ordered calamari to start, the i ordered the Summer salad with added chicken, hubby got the 2 piece fish & chips and the kid got the seafood linguini. Ordered the Golden hour mocktail , Blue buck beer and of course a shirley temple.
Food- the calamari came first and first bite was that it was tender and not overcooked, a bit of spice and tasty. However, had more and noticed that the batter in some places tasted undercooked and a couple pieces had the nice crunchy beak ( I thought it my tooth) and was pretty much done- the hubby & kid didn't get the bonus beak. My salad was pretty good at first with the sweet and savoury combination but at the end, with the dressing at the bottom it was very sweet and needed more citrus to balance it out. The seafood linguini was full of big prawns, scallops, clams and in a savory creamy sauce - there was spinach and mushrooms as well but the kid hates mushrooms but just picked them out and almost finished it all. Hubby's fish & chips - fish he found too heavy on the batter and I agree - he just pulled the batter off and fries were just okay. Service was okay, got water topped up and the server checked on us a couple of times. Overall, the food was just alright and the calamari bonus and too much batter had me deduct a star. Lovely, clean place just that the food was not up to the previous reviews . read more
