We used the public transportation (Dublin Bus) from Kilkenny to Cork. We wanted an inexpensive option to travel and enjoyed someone else driving while we viewed the beautiful landscape and city sights.
There were 2 negatives to using the bus. It was a very dirty bus inside and the windows. When we reached Cork and our bags were unloaded there was oil all over our bags, as well as many others. The oil smelled of gasoline and the fabric of our suitcases absorbed in the fabric and zipper fabric. Luckily we did not have any major damage to our clothes but it took some time cleaning it up (the last thing you want to deal with after a long day of travel).
We would recommend this option if you're trying to stay within a lower budget. Otherwise the train or renting a car were much better options. read more
