I picked up a copy of the Duluth reader while I was spending two days in the area and it's an interesting local news magazine. Printed weekly, they call themselves "alternative" and are the local source for music and events and restaurants in the Duluth area. This week, the articles included stories about Wisconsin ranking as the worst state for racial equality in education, a story about the Senate gun control proposals, and a historical story about the Solidarity movement in Poland. Interesting reading and really neat to see these sorts of stories that are either being ignored by other "mainstream" news outlets or they're just not being covered with the local slant they need. And yes, pages about concerts and music events and other goings on that local (Duluthians? Duluthers? Duluthites?) will care about. Even not being from around here, I enjoyed the read!
