As of late, when I am travelling, I tend to crave dumplings. It has been the case so far this year. I have had Dumpling? Dumpling! flagged for a while. I drove over there after a day of shopping and movie-watching. This eatery is located in a plaza in a quiet neighbourhood. I got the closest parking spot to the restaurant and walked in. The folks in the kitchen were busy folding and making dumplings. A woman greeted me and I got a table next to a window. I was the only person dining in. I noticed that the chopstick caddy on my table had a single chopstick. I could stab all my dumplings with a lone one, but I decided to get another one from the table next to mine. I ordered the beef and corn dumplings and got them pan-fried. I also ordered the pork and Chinese mushroom dumplings, but changed things up and got them steamed. While I waited fo my food to arrive, I got a glass of water. It was exciting to get all these dumplings. The steamed ones were steaming up my face. I felt like I was getting a facial for free. Each bamboo steamer housed fifteen dumplings. Can I eat thirty all by myself? Does the Earth rotate on its axis? I started with the beef and corn dumplings. I rarely see whole corn kernels in a dumpling. I love corn. No, really. I LOVE corn. These dumplings were delicious. I loved the flavour of the filling. I dipped them in soy sauce and it had a whole new yummy dimension. Just when you think that things couldn't get any better, they did. I had a pork and Chinese mushroom dumpling and it was even better! The steamed version tasted better to me. The dough was perfect. I also LOVE mushrooms and the flavour was out-of-this-world delicious. I polished off everything. I loved it all. I wanted to get some bubble tea to go. I ordered a pineapple iced tea with coconut jelly. I sipped it as I drove home in a thunderstorm (it was the only rainy day during my entire stay in Ottawa and the rain started to pour when I left with my tea). The tea was refreshing with a ton of pineapple flavour. The coconut jelly was perfect. I got my bill and paid for it at the counter. A lot of folks were ordering ahead of time and dropped by to pick up their orders. I paid using a credit card and all was good. If you want delicious dumplings in a different part of town and have some great bubble tea, come here. I highly recommend everything here. (288) read more
