Overall a super positive experience barring some communication issues. John, the gentleman we worked with at Eagle Paving was great. He did a solid estimate and then came back out to talk with us about exactly what they were going to do, the timeline needed to do it and how the whole process worked including any special site specific details. We hired them to tear out an old two parking and curbed area plus the remainder of the front yard at our house on a flag lot in North East Portland. We couldn't go the last foot or two we wanted because the slope of the yard was to great at the north corner so we had to decide if we could still manage to fit 5 parking spots across the measurement left. They went as big as they could and we had to bang out the measurement details with the line painter who came later in the day. The only limitation in the experience was that after the initial quote it took several emails and calls to get them to come back out for the walk through. They said a written commitment was all they needed to proceed so that was provided within 24 hours. Then we didn't hear back from them to schedule it, waited a week or two and called, email, waited, called emailed, waited and then suddenly we got a call on a Sunday saying we can do it tomorrow and will be done in 1 day. This was fine in our situation but still frustrated with the lack of communication over the course of nearly a month. They did however arrive on time Monday morning. Jumped right in. Being a flag lot there are neighbors from homes and apartments behind us driving in and out all day and they were very accommodating. They pulled us out regularly to confirm steps as they went. The morning was tear out and compaction, they took away all waste and used our old asphalt for recycling into new. Afternoon was laying the new paving and cutting curbs / making everything pretty and nice. They left before end of normal work day and the painter arrived around 7:30 at night. Walked us through the limitations of our new dimensions and figured out solutions. Note: We went with old school parking spacing of 8'. Know that today's standard is actually 9' but we can always go bigger and have 4 spots later if we'd like. It made the walkway to the house a little tight but having 5 spaces for us at least means space number 1 is a guest spot and often empty. With some getting used to they have been easy enough to navigate in and out of. So just like that we went from wondering if we were going to in fact have new paving done this year to having it done in one day. We were ready to start getting new quotes from other companies around the time we heard back from them. They were professional, efficient and super friendly folks who did an amazing job and were happy to make sure it was done the way we wanted. We have had several neighbors come and ask for the paver's and/or painter's information and we were happy to recommend them. They were one of the most competitive quotes we received and are thankful it all worked out. For the difficulty in comms it would be hard to earn above a 3 star with me but since we loved the work so much they were starting at a 5 star. read more
