Some people hate laundromats. I've always had a romantic notion of them. Who knows who you could meet while you're changing loads or folding your dry underwear? Unfortunately, I've never had a life-changing laundromat experience, but they've always been pleasant, if a tad dull. This was always my favourite laundromat. In fact, I had a washer and dryer in the apartment building I lived in and still came here to do my laundry. Why? There are tons of machines, so as long as it's not busy, which it rarely seemed to be, you can get four loads going at once and we outta there and onto better things in under two hours. There's a change machine, but come equipped with a bag of quarters just in case. It didn't accept my crinkled bills once. You can buy small boxes of detergent, and there are a couple of chairs at the back to sit at. It gets pretty stuffy in here, but on a cold Edmonton night, I never minded much. It's a good chance to catch up on some reading, as no one usually comes in, and if they do they tend to keep to their own business. Not very romantic, rather utilitarian, in fact. But I guess that's what a laundromat outta be. read more
