On the west side of downtown Columbus, there is a beautiful sculpture of EOS, Greek Goddess of the Dawn. The sculpture depicts her rising from her home in Oceanus to greet her brother Helios, God of the Sun.
The piece was added in 2006 by the artist Dessa Kirk. The figure is made from steel and fiberglass and has a red/copper tint. The goddess appears to be rising/flying and is supported by a mass of metal strands which become covered in flowering vines each summer.
The sculpture is located in a street median on 5th Street between Brown and Lindsey. It is located across from the south entrance to Mill Race Park.
