This review has an unusual spin to it. I originally wanted to check out Fairview City Hall after having had a late lunch at Denny's down the road. I was expecting things to be quiet, as it was a Sunday and I didn't expect this City Hall to be open.
I was so wrong. I was about to turn right to get to the building when I saw the road closed. Police cars and officers were out on a hot, humid day. I was even more curious as to what was going on.
I heard music. It sounded and looked like some sort of festival. I parked in a plaza with a Publix grocery store and Anytime Fitness close by, and walked over.
There were small vendors, from a nice woman selling alpaca key chains, to samples of cold drinks from another vendor. It was cool.
I walked by the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile. The GTA needs one. Heck, I need one because it's cool and I like hot dogs. It would be fun driving it.
I eventually made it in front of the stage where a live music performance was taking place. I had dropped by the city of Fairview's annual July 3rd celebration. I wish that I could say that the city was throwing my surprise birthday bash, but it was such a nice find.
On stage was Brandon Davis, a local singer who had quite the backstory. He was an engineer for the fire department a few years ago. He was driving to work one day when a car hit his head-on. That driver was distracted. Brandon went through a lot to heal. Once he recovered, he made a choice to follow his dream of being a country singer.
He has a lovely voice. He writes his own songs. I became a fan of his during the hour that I was there. I was sweating buckets in the hot, humid weather. It was so worth it hearing him sing and his band back him up.
I did manage to check out the food trucks and other vendors. Most were around Fairview City Hall, with the police department attached to it in the background. You could get anything from tacos to hot dogs.
I did manage to take a closer look at City Hall's exterior. It's open Monday through Friday from 8 am till 4:30 pm. If you're a local, you come here to get your driver's licence renewed. I don't know anything else during my brief visit.
The building looked cheerful. There was a working clock about the main doors.
It was a fun visit that made my day. I'm glad that I dropped by to celebrate an early July 4th and my birthday.
