I was still looking for a new egg roll place and I was looking for a Chinese lunch that was open at noon on a Sunday which can be hard, the better reviewed ones seem to open between 3-5 pm.
The place is in a strip mall and not bad looking with an outdoor patio and a small eat in area. The inside looked clean/fresh with wood tables/chairs and color on the walls. There is a lunch menu on Sunday that comes with rice and soup, I had the Gen Taos chicken with fried rice and hot/sour soup with an up charge pork egg roll. The service was friendly and the food came fresh and hot.
The pork egg roll was better than average and not super great but not one of those crappy ones. The fried rice was cooked nicely, al dente and not mushy with chunks of pork but it was just texture because it was very light in color and not much flavor, soy sauce needed here. The Gen Taos chicken was crispy and my first thought was that the sauce was sweet and tasty with dark meat chicken, I can go either way with white or dark so this was ok with me. The chicken was plentiful with some rice so they didn't do the opposite and give you a ton of rice and little chicken to fill the bowl. The hot and sour soup for the most part was ok with mushrooms and some liver cube looking things, I never order this soup and have only had it twice in my life so I don't know where it stands compared to others but it was thick and ok.
Overall I would give it a solid 3.5 because it was a better than the average Chinese lunch special but not the best like from my favorite place and I would definitely eat another lunch special or a regular menu item. read more
