I was really hopeful seeing that Great Wolf renovated and added multiple new dining options. Fireside takes the place of the old Wood Fire Lodge restaurant and has a shared bar attached.
The aesthetic is nice and the menu looks promising.
Unfortunately, it misses the mark by a landslide.
We ordered the Chili Lime Chicken Bowl, the Short Rib Bolognese, two kid's meals with chicken tenders, and waters. No appys, cocktails, or dessert.
The place was nearly empty but it took so long to get our food that we started wondering if the server had forgotten to place our order.
It finally arrived. The Chili Lime Chicken Bowl looked promising when it first arrived, but it ended up being very disappointing. There was ZERO detectable chili OR lime flavor, the carrots were undercooked and crunchy, and the chicken amount I was served could only be described as "scant". Honestly, if I had gathered every tiny little shred of chicken I could find in that entire bowl, I'd be willing to bet it was less than 1.5 ounces. It was essentially a bowl of hot brown rice covered with tortilla strips and extremely bland. I tried to doctor it up with salt and pepper twice (I NEVER salt my food) and I took an orange slice from my kid's meal to squeeze all over it. That barely made it better. I ate half of it and was done. I do not recommend this item. It's a total waste of money.
My husband ordered the short rib bolognese which also was presented nicely but it literally tasted like Chef Boyardee with again, almost no meat on it. MAYBE 2 ounces at best. Absolutely covered in undercooked carrots as filler. He did not enjoy it at all.
The kids meals were the only decent thing we got. The chicken tasted pretty good and the fries were nice. At $12.99, I was surprised it didn't include a kids drink - most places charge that and then give a drink AND a dessert.
Our bill after tip was $95.
Needless to say, we canceled our reservation for tonight and will be leaving the resort to find something elsewhere.
