The West Loop is like a hotbed for crappy corporate crazy-ass banks. Chase, BofA, all of 'em...linin' up to take your moneys!
If you are going to select a better one to bank at, may I recommend:
1. MB Financial (I've been a customer for 8+ years)
2. First Eagle National Bank.
The upside to MB is that they've expanded all over the city with many ATMs on the north side, etc. They also have several locations downtown, are owned locally, and there is a big branch at Madison/Halsted, and a drive-through at Madison/Loomis.
However, I've been enlightened to First Eagle (Racine/Madison) as my significant male partner uses it for checking/ATM, etc. Recently we needed to open an account together (mwahha!) and process some paperwork while both of us were remotely located, on the road, etc. Kind of annoying for them I'd assume, but they were nothing short of wonderful, accommodating and professional to make sure we had everything we needed.
Some observations of this branch:
1. They call back when they say they will.
2. They follow up when they say they will.
3. They take care of things so you do not have to fret.
4. They have a nice, clean lobby and professional staff.
5. They have a drive-up ATM at this location.
6. Very easy parking.
7. Located 1 block from a police HQ.
8. Decent weekend hours!
All in all, a very decent bank especially if you are located (or own a biz) in the West Loop. Small bank feel, none of the bogus crap from big box banking busters. Bank reviews may be boring, but it's where you keep all your money...so best to go with the people that are nicer and not Chase or Bank of America. Prunes. read more
