Well, I guess the problem with trying to pack as many things into your day as possible is that you end up missing out on some cool stuff. When I finally managed to get here, after spending our time exploring other parts of Warrnambool, I noticed that a bunch of people in period costume where all packing up and going home. It was a shame, but at least it was still open. Anyway, this place is both a museum, which contains artifacts that have been dragged up off the ocean floor (this area is famous for shipwrecks), and outside this is this replica colonial port which contains pretty much everything (including the pub - can't have a port without a place for the sailors to go and spend all their money) that you would expect in a colonial town. Actually, with the exception of the harbour, this place pretty much has everything that you would expect in a typical town (though I haven't been to Sovereign Hill in ages so I can't comment on that place). Its a pretty good way to spend a couple of ours, though if you want a drink at the pub it is probably best to get here a little earlier than I did. read more
