Cool experience in a clean establishment.
The staff was nice and hospitable, gave a quick orientation and I was in! I don't think he told me his name though. I chose the Summer Sky 2 room due to my claustrophobia, I had rescheduled when I accidentally picked the escape pod, which probably would be fine for my second visit. They have a shower in the room for you to shower before and after the session, as well as shampoo, body wash, ear rinse, but no conditioner, so bring your own. There is conditioning spray at their mirror which is in the middle of the hallway. I had to use the blow dryer which I imagine could be heard in the tank if someone was in it, but cannot confirm. It was weird to get ready after the session in the middle of the facility.
The experience was really nice but felt familiar. It was the first time I floated in an isolated setting but it felt like it wasn't (probably because I've floated many times and easily while swimming.) The temperature was a little cool, it could have been 1-3 degrees warmer. I made a few mistakes and did not put the ear discs in properly, and ended up getting salt water in my ears and eyes multiple times which definitely ruined the experience. Do not get the water in your eyes under any circumstances. Even though it was my fault, it made me want to get out early.
I felt it was really helpful for addressing pain, I was able to hear everything (I mean everything) crack. I thought it would be more transcendent than it was, but I'm open to trying it again. I did have a great meditation session, but it was better for physical pain than anything else.
This is probably better for people who live in the city and have a difficult time finding a place or time to be completely alone without any sensory input. I live in a pretty quiet area so it almost felt like being home. It's worth a try if you're remotely interested. I think everyone should try floating once. read more
