The ambiance was casual and the service was fine. This was our first and last trip to this restaurant because our meal was below average.
The batter on the shrimp and oysters wasn't good at all. Fortunately, the batter was lighter on the shrimp which allowed the shrimp flavor to come through. As for the oysters, the batter was heavier and overpowered the flavor of the oysters. This was very disappointing since I specifically stopped here for the oysters! Fried oysters are one of my favorite foods, and I've eaten them across the country. These by far are the worst I've ever had. Even after removing the batter, they lacked flavor and didn't have the distinct briny flavor you get from "fresh" Gulf of Mexico oysters. The best part of the meal were the tiny hush puppies.
I'm unsure how they couldn't get fried seafood right. Frying makes everything better, except for here. Oh well, not every stop is a home run. read more
