My husband and I have been to Fratelli's many times over years. In fact, we remember when this Westboro Fratelli's was a bit further west on Richmond Rd, where Brassica currently is (and previously Vittoria in the Village). We went to the original Fratelli's on Bank St in The Glebe too, but that location has since closed, as did the location in Barrhaven. Only this one in Westboro and the one in Kanata is left.
Fratelli's is great for good solid Italian food. It's casual enough for a meal out "just because" but also nice enough for a celebratory meal. Pasta dishes and pizzas are in the $20-something range and "Secondi" dishes are in the $30-40 range.
I love their pastas. The sauces are always rich and flavourful and the pastas are cooked to a perfect al dente. My favourites are the cannelloni and the tortellini.
They have a lovely hidden patio at the back of the restaurant. And the 2 tables inside by the window are great because the windows roll up like a garage door so you're dining inside but get fresh air and your view is the sidewalk, which can be fun to people watch ;)
Service is always great, even when they are really busy. The only negative thing is it gets really loud in the restaurant when it's busy. Oh and if you don't live in the neighbourhood, parking might be tricky since it's street parking only.
When my husband and I just moved to the neighbourhood (many years ago), we had 2 places that we would go to when we didn't feel like cooking: Milagro's which is sadly no longer in business and Fratelli's. We don't eat out in our neighbourhood as much as we used to, but we are happy that Fratelli's is still around. read more
