Coach Brandon is a testament to the saying that "every cloud has a silver lining." I am a mom of three boys, of varying shapes, strengths and mindsets. My oldest, Cooper (age 13), shattered his wrist during a club basketball game in November 2019 and was out for 8 weeks. This meant that he was going to miss playoffs, school championships, etc. Cooper was devastated b/c sports are his everything. What was I going to do with a 7th grade boy who didn't have his outlet? Enter Brandon! Brandon did group training with Cooper, Diego (also 13, not a twin) and Holden (11, 5th grade). After just one session, they were HOOKED. (See pics from first session.) Initially, it was two training sessions a week. But they wanted more, and so we upped it to 3 sessions a week. They have NEVER complained about going to training (the same cannot be said about not complaining about having to do walking lunges or groaning as they walked down the stairs the morning after a workout). They trained with Brandon in Orange County before we lost him to Austin. So they had a solid 9 months of training and they grew stronger, more flexible, more confident, and tougher. And they never got injured with Brandon (Cooper managed to break his foot while still recovering from the wrist fracture during a one-arm game of basketball with a buddy, but that wasn't on Brandon. So for a while, Brandon was training Cooper with an arm cast and boot!) They learned about meditation (can you imagine, 7th grade boys meditating?!), journaling, breathing, nutrition, etc. All three of them looked up to Brandon and consider him a coach and friend. He is consistently positive. Cooper was asked in school to write about a special relationship, and he wrote about Brandon. During COVID, gyms were closed. Brandon adjusted and made trips to the house where the boys learned bodyweight and band exercises. (See home training pic.) Now that Brandon is in Austin, they still train with him via his App and he continues to encourage them. It is rare to find a good trainer for juniors -- Brandon is your guy. I have been blown away by the strength gains all three of my boys have made. But more importantly is the confidence he helped develop in my boys. Confidence that comes through feeling STRONG. There is something really powerful about it, particularly for tween boys. I will end with this. The other day, I was reflecting back and mentioned to Cooper that the basketball game that he played where he broke his wrist, wasn't even a game he was supposed to play but we asked the coach if he could play in it because he had another commitment during his regular game time. I said to Cooper how if we had just not been so pushy, he wouldn't have played in that earlier game and wouldn't have broken his wrist. Cooper said "yeah, but then I wouldn't have met Brandon." I said "so are you saying that breaking your wrist was worth it?" Cooper: "Absolutely worth it; no question." WOW. Ok! read more
