Three stars and one star is fully devoted to the service. Otherwise....
Okay so I can see why it has a cult following - it's a little place in Mount Vernon where the locals have their usuals, service is very friendly, and it's a no frills and no pretense.
We got a French Dip and the full plate of fish and chips - which you can get grilled - which came with a soup. The soup was good, if not a little confusing because it was basically stew, but with a soupy broth. The fish and chips were pretty basic - I've had better/crispier ones elsewhere, but there was a hefty portion. I can't say I tried the French Dip, but my friend who is a sucker for roast beef, did not finish it. We did, however, finish the curly fries. I swear they were good just because they were curly.
Overall, I'd say that everything probably needed another 30 second sin the fryolator/toaster/warmer...things aren't BAD per se, but little tweaks could make them a lot better. I'd also say things could be a little more spice-ful and seasoned but I'm glad I tried this MV staple and can now have an informed opinion. read more
