A friend booked the Great Ocean Road Day Tour for me while I was in Melbourne because I mentioned I wanted to see the 12 Apostles. After spending an entire day (7am to 9ishpm) on the Great Ocean Road, I can say that the Sunset Tour would have been more enjoyable as a single rider, as a full day was a lot more bus than Great Ocean Road.
Bec had a lot of energy from the moment she picked me up (I was the first) to the moment I was dropped off (last). She had a lot of cute quips up her sleeve as well as generic info about the Great Ocean Road you could get from the Internet. Very impressive how she remembered the entire bus-load of folks with hard-to-pronounce names the entire tour. There wasn't a lot of mingling among our group, but I'm guessing that all depends on the group and your interest in getting to know them/their interest in getting to know you.
Definitely a Debbie Downer here, but when you're not coasting on your own schedule, it just feels like a lot of the same coast at every stop. Not to be bah humbug, but once you've seen one beautiful beach, you've seen them all! I wish there was actually more time to explore some of the cute coastal towns stops than there was allotted to each scenery stop.
The little bfast nibble and included lunch were a nice touch, but nothing extraordinary, as was the complimentary wifi on the bus.
I wouldn't recommend this as a solo activity and I'd recommend a shortened version of the day tour if you're wavering. read more
