I visited the Goderich Harbour Restaurant (or Old Saltie as the sign out front says) a few days before Canada Day this summer. I didn't find its Yelp page at the time, but it was good enough that I wrote about it on my Strava entry for the day, so I'll quote a section of that here:

I circled back to the harbor, where there was a fish-and-ships shop with seven Canadian flags (and one Ukrainian), which I took as a sure sign that it must be good, especially since it had obviously been there a while, was out of the way, and had a decent amount of customers at 3 PM. Indeed, it was worth it. Haddock fried after you order it, with a choice of scores of seasonings and sauces to add to it, served takeaway style with greaseproof paper. I went with Worcestershire and lemon pepper, and it may have been the best fish and chips I've had.

So, yup, if I was reminded of it randomly nearly six months later and wrote about it on Strava, it's pretty good. Check it out if you're in the area! read more
