GRACE=Grass Roots Art Community Effort is an uniquely awesome grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that allows elders, and disabled adults, and more to make, and explore ART in all mediums. GRACE brings weekly artmaking workshops to the places where people live and work: nursing homes, mental health centers, senior meal sites, adult day centers, and artists' homes. GRACE is a program that consistently enhances lives. It introduces wonder and creativity to lives limited by age, disability, combining the art process, and the experiences of each individual. It is here that local people can perhaps for the 1st time in their lives, paint with a paint brush; draw with a pastel, charcoal, or more. GRACE instructors give simple instructions or encouragement to the consumer's. They are artists themselves, and they are wonderfully patient and nurturing. GRACE has many exhibitions all over Vermont, US, and even internationally. GRACE is a small true grassroots and is headquartered in a cool old firehouse building in downtown Hardwick, VT where they hold workshops, host a gallery, and archives which is open to the public.
