To be straightforward- Gruit is fun, and gruit is different. It's a beer garden but they've also got an indoor seating area that sort of resembles a diner. They have an incredibly friendly staff, and they have one of the most unique menus I've seen in a very long time.
All of the food is kosher, which means that the chefs had to get a little bit creative with some of the items on the menu- for example "crab cakes" made of pan fried corn and fennel relish, or wienerschnitzel made with beef bacon. Some of the food came off as a bit odd, while some of the food- the beef bacon stuffed medjool dates in particular- were an absolute hit.
On top of the food, they've got a pretty wide selection of drinks. I got a pitcher of beer for $28, which is a pretty standard price. They also offer flights for beer tasting, wines, and a variety of other drinks
