This is a great add to Hackensack and puts a much-needed round peg (pizza) in a square hole (box) for the locals and the influx of summer residents. The build-out and decor are well done and cozy. I love the mid-century *antiques* and the open space. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The pizza is great. I also appreciate how they keep it simple. Pick a pie size and then choose the toppings you want on a price/topping approach.
I have nothing against places with recipe pies, and I enjoy that at places like Rafferty's when I want something like the Bacon Cheeseburger pizza. But sometimes, with diverse menus and lots of specialty pizzas, it's hard to figure out what to get or what is on a pizza with a fancy name. This takes all the guesswork out of it and also, I imagine, helps the business model stay sustainable and manageable by keeping things simple and ingredients to the essentials. My go-to is sausage, and it did not disappoint. I saw the pepperoni pie and was thinking about that next time. The pepperonis are huge and smell great. They aren't coin-sized, more like a coffee coaster!
With the Rendezvous brewery a few doors down, this part of town is going to help bring back Hackensack. Keep up the great work. read more
