Old school Seattleites: were you as bummed as I was when the Big Picture Show closed? Did you wish it could live on forever? Well, you're in luck, because it's been reborn as a comedy venue / moviehouse / occasional live music spot, which I only wish I'd discovered sooner. And -- it's being run by the good folks at The Crocodile. Incredible.
I bought tickets in December for the Wheatus acoustic show here in April, and was thrilled to learn that it would be in the old stadium-style seating that remains from Big Picture. The adjacent bar has been reborn, and it's cool AF. The walls are decorated floor-to-ceiling with vintage show posters from the Crocodile, along with photos of famous Seattle musicians (like Hole and Nirvana). The bar sells food from Tat's Deli, along with a full drink menu. And -- bonus! -- you can order to / from your seat once the show starts. There's not a bad seat in the house. What a cool spot to see an intimate show.
Bonus: you can walk in off the street and grab food from Tat's, or order online and take it to go. Why aren't more people shouting from the rooftops about this place?! read more
