In search of a day defined by great shopping, fine dining, and relaxing strolling? Look no further than Hyde Park Square. This neighborhood district is situated along Erie Ave in Cincinnati. The street is lined with businesses (shopping, dining, and real estate, along with salons and art galleries) that inhabit beautiful examples of classical architecture.
The middle of the square is a little green park, situated around a fountain that was donated to the people of Hyde Park in 1900. On warm days you'll find families eating their Greater's ice cream in the park (a quaint Greater's store sits in the middle of the square), on warm weekend nights you'll often find live bands and dancing. You'll always find trendy couples canoodling in the romantic atmosphere.
Best bets for dining are Teller's or Red for upscale culinary pleasures, Indigo or Arthur's for a more casual, friendly, environment. Apparel shopping is great at Knicker's, Alligator Purse, and Karisma. Or, pick up knick-knacks at Originalities or Hyde Bark. If you're in the art market, stop by one of the square's many galleries...or just stop to browse.
Parking in the square can be a problem but valet on Wednesday-Saturday nights for $5 makes it a little easier. Or you can drive around for ages and duke it out for one of the few on-street parking spots...either way.
In the warm season, a farmers market visits the square on Sundays from 10am-2pm. Check it out for fresh local (sometimes organic) produce and other home-made wares. read more
