Going on ILP was the best decision I ever made! It was so great that I had to go twice haha. I went to both India and Costa Rica. Before I left, I was pretty nervous about living in an unfamilair place with a bunch of strangers, but it actually turned out to be exactly what I needed. I met lifelong friends who laughed beside me as we taught our crazy students that I still miss every single day. I also learned how to Bollywood dance which was amazing because I had just graduated from college with a degree in dance. We also got to go on some epic vacations. My favorite places that we went were the Taj Mahal and Machu Picchu. Riding camels through the desert and camping under the stars was a close second though. I always felt super safe and that ILP was doing their best to make sure I was taken care of despite being literal time zones away from me. My only warning is that my group and I would get sick of the food. Especially the rice and beans. It kept us filled, but felt so repetitive that we'd lose our appetites. Luckily, our coordinators were super helpful and helped us communicate with our cooks about how we can make meals more exciting. Oh yeah, and the cold showers were a bit of a shock at first... with that being said, boring food and cold showers was totally worth it in exchange for the memories and friends that I made while I was abroad. read more
