Open only during the ski season (typically late October - Early May), Java Joe's offers up a variety of caffeinated beverages using beans roasted by Carrabassett Coffee Co. Not much of a coffee drinker myself, I typically I pop in on my way to the Super Quad for a nice chai or more recently, a maté. Nothing makes me feel happier than riding the SQ under bluebird skies, sipping a maté and thinking about which trail to take first (Guage, perhaps? Or maybe Skidder). Is it the skiing or the maté that's making me feel so euphoric? I also have very fond memories of après-ski hot chocolate at Java Joe's. As a child my brother and I would always stop in for a nice cup with whipped cream, sprinkled with grated chocolate before skiing home. The hot chocolate is still lovely and will warm you right up after a long day on the hill. If you're in need of sustenance you can usually count on a freshly made bagel or muffin to go with that coffee. Service is friendly and you can read the snow report while you wake up.
