There was a time when this corner of 39th Ave and Prince was a definitive late night skewer experience. Once the pandemic happened, it was far less frequent and way less late. After many appearances from other carts, Juewei has graciously stepped in to fill the void of the kebab loving late night crowd.
The lamb skewers are still the ones to beat. A little fatty and with the right amount of chili powder, the charcoal grilled meat gives it a new dimension of flavor and smokiness. Some easy runner-ups are the chicken skin, beef tendon, and chicken gizzard.
Prices are between $2-$2.50 depending on the kind of protein. The going rate for skewers keep going up and up, but Juewei is still among the cheaper options for folks not looking to do it up in a restaurant setting. Plus, I think these ones are better overall. The local crowd would likely agree.
As of right now, they're around from 5pm till just after midnight. They offer online delivery through the fantuan, but most folks are ordering in person.
