I was born and raised in Memphis so I know good ole southern fried chicken and BBQ. My husband and I were so excited to find out Branson was opening a KFC not far from where we reside now. I was especially happy because I don't like the lingering aftermath Odor of pan frying food in my kitchen. Well, yesterday was the the second time eating the food from this establishment and to be blunt~~ it's just plain ole bland. I rarely and don't like posting disappointing news, in fact, if our experience was bad, I just don't post anything at all, but COME ON KFC ":-/ The first time trying the food Hubby and I hit the drive through, the chicken was lukewarm, slightly dry, greasy and bland......Okay......Okay.....So....I said in defense, "It's our first time trying this brand new fast food chain, their are patrons wrapped around and waiting down Branson Hills Parkway to try this new place so they're probably precooking everything so they can deliver "FAST" from the drive through". I mean, like I said, it's a brand new establishment so everyone is wanting to try this place at once. So yesterday, Hubby and I give them another shot and this time we sit down in the very small, but cute dining room. Thinking the food was going to be better because we were dining in is an understatement....It was Worse~~~~ The chicken was again lukewarm and slightly dry, the breading was soggy, the potatoes were potatoes, the gravy was like brown water, the Mac-n-cheese was tasteless(But credit due for the noodles not being overcooked and mushy because the bite/chew was spot on), the coleslaw was Awesome(Even better than I remember growing up and I'm really not a coleslaw fan) and the Biscuits were awesome as well with the packaged buttery spread and honey sauce(THAT BUTTERY SPREAD & HONEY SAUCE ~~~YUMMMY). Well, the chicken we had was the original recipe and not the extra crispy so I'm not going to totally pass on this KFC just yet, we're just going to wait Until the newness wears off. Until next time KFC......until next time..... P.S. Read the story about Colonel Sanders life and the history of him opening his first fried chicken joint. It's a Very interesting read. P.S.S(lol) I have fond childhood memories of my mother picking up a bucket of KFC chicken from the drive through while on our way to Maywood in Memphis. I can remember My Mother sitting myself and siblings down around The picnic table for lunch; then making all of our plates:-) read more
