My best friend and I stopped in to Counterclox during happy hour on a Friday afternoon. We snagged two seats at the bar. We enjoyed the decor and warm wood tones throughout the dining area and the bar. There was only one other pair at the bar, so, our bartender was able to attend to us fairly quickly. She had the right level of energy to be working with the public; she was a little eclectic. She shared with us that she spent 23 years working at a nearby popular bar. So, we had high expectations for a basic spicy margarita and a variation of the classic, local favorite, the lemon crush. Unfortunately, both drinks were not good. The margarita tasted like straight lemonade, despite her attempts to pour in cups of sliced jalapeños from the kitchen. My best friend's lemon crush was 98% straight lemon juice. Neither of us complained or asked for new drinks. We just had a few sips, paid our tab, tipped, and got out of there. We were a little overwhelmed by her personality. She was persistent that we visit her at her other job the following day. Overall, I think it could be a great spot for food and drinks depending on where you sit and who the bartender is. I think we were a bit unlucky during our visit. The AC was much appreciated! read more
