La Vita é Bella's Vitello Portofino is that most comforting hug that's needed on a wet and cold Seattle winter night.
The veal scaloppine - topped with thinly sliced prosciutto di Parma, mushrooms, and sage in a port wine reduction with a touch of cream - is a big portion. Far more importantly is that the smoky, triple-umami preparation is like that hug, or sitting by a roaring fire while the snow falls outside. This dish has soul!
It usually comes with a side of vegetables, which I subbed out for spaghetti, making it feel more like what I'd make at home or get in a mountain hut in the Italian Alps.
