It was fun to see a new dim sum restaurant pop up in our area so we definitely wanted to try this new place out opened by the same owners of Tian Tian in the same shopping center.
The decor is inviting with modern and clean styling, which is a nice departure from the typical older bustling dim sum restaurant. While the waitstaff were friendly and helpful.
We ordered some of our dim sum staples including chicken feet, charsiu bao, crystal shrimp dumplings, preserved egg porridge, changfun, haam seoi gok (aka what we call "Hey Arnold's") and scallion ginger tripe.
Execution of the chicken feet, tripe egg porridge and charsiu bao were on point with great seasoning and textures, while the shrimp dumpling and chanfun were lacking due to poor texture (maybe due to being over cooked or the recipe for their dough). The Hey Arnold was too dry and hard on the outside and the filling was a bit too sweet.
So how was the bangforbuck-o-meter? They had nice chopsticks, high quality paper napkins, as well as nice Tian Tian branded wooden box steamers, so all of this added expense seems to have been priced into their menu items.
I'm thinking each dish is $1-2 over priced compared to the quantity given (especially with the chicken feet).
I hope they work out their growing pains and continue to improve their execution and pricing. read more
