Growing up, I was never really awake early enough for breakfast. So I missed out on a lot of breakfast opportunities. However, I always made an effort to be up for pancakes. And I'd be in heaven if we had waffles, which was rare, but special.
What I like about Maple is that you can have breakfast at any hour of the day. And it is breakfast as breakfast should be -- hefty, hearty, and comforting.
Let me start with the Swiss Chocolate Waffle (there is a pancake option), which I always have. With a side order of country sausage, for a nice balance of sweet and savory. And a cup of brewed Lavazza. The reason why I enjoy this so much is because it is an elevated rendition of what I would have at home: I'd have chocolate chips in my pancakes at home; at Maple, it's Swiss Chocolate. But the waffle is for when I feel like taking it light.
On other days, when I'm feeling more voracious, I'll have the Big MAPLE Breakfast. Composed of a Belgian waffle (which are the size of a plate, by the way), served with bacon, two eggs (cooked how you like), breakfast sausages, and country fries, this is clearly the breakfast of champions. There is no backing down from this.
There is also that other option: the Prime Rib Tapa. It is a steak slab, marinated in the traditional Filipino tapa recipe of soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and black pepper. Served with garlic rice, atchara (pickled papaya), and two eggs (cooked your way), of course. read more
