Bessie, my large Hyundai, was bucking on me. It happened once on a freeway and I blurted a profanity. I had had regular oil changes, but I knew something was not right. Every time I had taken it in, I asked them to check my shocks because the suspension just seemed off. They told me the shocks were fine, but I didn't even think that there were other elements that could be causing the non-smooth ride.
Fast forward to Master Tech. The reviews seemed favorable on Yelp, so I decided that this might be a good fit.
Two words: Amazing service.
It was a little hard to get to. I'm not entirely sure you can get to it without the entrance just south of Taco Bell.
Once there, the shop looked relatively organized, but I've been to enough mechanics shops now to know that few are incredibly clean/organized.
I was greeted by Craig, and I gave him my car's list of woes. It was Saturday and he said he'd get to it on Monday.
On Tuesday night I hadn't received a phone call, so I called. They claimed to have tried both phone numbers to no avail, but my wife and I thought that was a little suspect.
But in any event, they had definitely done their due diligence. What I thought was one problem turned into $4500 worth of potential repairs, delivered to me in a tightly knit proposal of repairs. They had spent HOURS on my little foreign car.
Now I don't know if it was just a ton of labor or if there was any inflation on that much work, so I am having a mechanic friend look at it for a second opinion - there's a good chance I will have to sell it for parts.
But for my money's worth, the one hour diagnostic fee turned into 5+ hours' worth of research.
For now: highly recommended. read more
