Fresh simple menu with bold flavors and a hometown feel that blends perfectly to Western Pennsylvania.
We looked up a date night dinner on Yelp... and stumbled upon Masters Trailside Tavern!
To our surprise after eating there, we find it on every must do list for new restaurants in Pittsburgh.
Nestled in the heart of export right off the Westmoreland Heritage Trail... hence the name... Masters brings life back into the already up and coming foodie scene of Export!
A large parking lot accommodates all the local patrons and on a beautiful night affords you to walk around the entire building taking in the train displays and trail views.
Masters has a large raised front porch with outdoor seating and live entertainment. We came on a Friday night, so the place was packed... but we were able to sit immediately at the bar.
The menu is limited with options, but not at all lacking on flavors.
From the hostess, to our waitress, to the full friendly cast of employees... everyone shared suggestions and raved about different aspects of every dish.
We ordered the:
- Fried Brussel Sprouts: large portion and a maple-bacon vinaigrette that you'll want to bottle up to-go
- Meat and Potatoes: a simple name but an elaborate dish!! Crispy, tender potato rounds with an elaborate pairing of short rib, pickled onion, and house radish that taps into every tastebud along the way
- Bruschetta Chicken: pounded and crisp breading on a cutlet like a true chef with such a fresh tomato topping
- Limoncello Tiramisu: pillowy soft and clearly homemade with a good soak of limoncello and a balanced cream for the most refreshing summer dessert. Not sure why I haven't had creative tiramisu options before, but step aside espresso... tiramisu tastes good with other soaks too!!
The restaurant is gorgeous. The staff is phenomenal. The vibe fits small town and romantic dinner all in one!
We will be back again and again... no doubt!! read more
