I stopped by Friday to visit this bar to meet up with some friends and to wind down from the week. The bar is in the nice quiet section of South Park Slope and a bit out of the way to reach (apart from the B63 bus), but well worth the visit. The bar seems small, but cozy, with wooden tones and soft lighting throughout, however through the rear door opens a staircase down to the back yard which is also nice and spacious. I was served at the bar by the fantastic Ayana, who made me a great, tasty, Rye Old-fashioned. Her service was great, she was speedy and easily handled the crowd that grew there as a group came in for a birthday/farewell party. The party really got started as the DJ played a mix of classics and soul to get the patrons dancing, and the evening flowed. I had a great time, great conversation, enjoyed excellent service and drinks until the early morning. I am definitely coming back to enjoy Mathilde, the great drinks and bartenders - not to forget the music! read more
