McTyre is a 19-acre park just south of Hallandale Beach Boulevard between 52nd and 56th avenues. It used to be called Tower Park but the county changed the name in 1976 to McTyre Park to honor John Willis McTyre, a Pembroke Park commissioner who died in a 1974 plane crash in North Carolina.
McTyre Park was once part of the town of Pembroke Park. After West Park became incorporated they took over running the park. In 2023 McTyre Park received a brand new playground. The park also has basketball courts and a soccer field, picnic pavilions and restrooms. McTyre Park has the town senior center and there are activities every day as well as field trips. There is also a kids soccer league. Parts of McTyre Park can be rented from the town of West Park for private events.
Parks and greenspaces like those found in McTyre Park bring the community together. The modern playground and well maintained sports fields draw all ages to the park but one of the best features of the park is its role as a hub for community engagement and social activities. Whether you're seeking a quiet spot for relaxation or an active day outdoors, this park offers something for everyone. read more
