Mel's Diner is one of the only restaurant options on the south side of Muskogee. It's charming, country, cute inside. They do a half diner/half pizza parlor kind of vibe that is very cute. Tonight was my first time trying it, and I regret not going sooner. They offered a super affordable steak dinner Valentine's special that was a great idea. My salad was little and very simple, but the ranch is definitely homemade and delicious. My steak was perfect, so that alone was worth the price and experience, but with a few little details added, Mel's could be easily a 5 star spot. I think if they offered a "loaded" baked potato with sour cream, chives, cheese, that would make it just a touch more decadent. Don't serve cake directly from the cooler, so it's not dried out. Just little things like that would definitely add to the experience. Lately, they post often about hiring too, and it was evident they could use some help. It was busy causing the limited servers to run around and forget things. But our server was super nice. I will definitely be back to give the pizza a try soon, and the breakfast menu looks awesome also! I'm still always so grateful to small businesses like Mel's for keeping Muskogee fed! read more
