Mealer Park is a 1.5 acre passive green space. It has 200 feet of water frontage on Lake Osborne. There are some benches and tables but no restrooms or playground. Alcohol is prohibited in the park but a Corona bottle on the ground suggests that is a rule loosely followed.
The water view is lovely and the park attracts a lot of birds. In the trees I saw a pileated woodpecker and grackles. On the water there were ducks, a pelican, common moorhen, and a great blue heron.
I sat on a bench and took in the view as I listened to the music coming from The Hive, a tiki bar located on the lake. This is a great park for a picnic or fresh water fishing where you can catch largemouth bass, sunshine bass, butterfly peacock bass, black crappie, bluegill, redear sunfish, catfish, and Mayan cichlids. It is also the perfect place to sit quietly for a moment and take in the nature around you. read more
