This memorial statue for Mrs Vantrease Russell is a memorial to an amazing woman who opened the Russell Home for Atypical Children. She was a remarkable woman who was known as "Grandma" by the children that she cared for. This memorial statue was dedicated in May of 2006. We need to remember these people who shown us that ordinary people can accomplish great things. Mrs Russell believed in the simple tenant that all children should feel loved. This statue is located by the parking area for Cyprus Grove Park and close to the children's playground here. I think Mrs Russell would like that. read more
