Get a second opinion on upsell attempts!!!!!!
I went back in May of for an oil change and was told by the service manager that my brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced - even though my car had just over 30k miles on it. He said that the pads were worn to the screws and were digging into the rotors and that it was a real safety issue. As I drive mostly on the highway, this didn't make sense to me - so I didn't get it done. Three months later, I had to get a new tire (went to a different shop - not Midas) and asked them to check all the brakes ---- they said they were fine. Then this week, I had to take the car to the dealer for a software update - and they also inspected the brakes and said they were fine (added a pic of the evaluation from their report).
So either they don't know how to diagnose brake issues - or (at least in this instance) they mislead customers in order to upsell unnecessary services. I would recommend getting a second opinion on any "strongly suggested" additional service recommendations. read more
