When I lived in Raleigh, I was a Sudz man (until the new management took over). That quaint little car wash and detailing place off Peace Street downtown. When I moved to Durham I started looking around while I drove. This place intrigued me for a while as it's just a small building, and always looked busy.
When I drove in on a Friday afternoon, there was one person ahead of me, so I had to wait for a while. They wash one car at a time, and if you get there while another car is there, you have to wait in your car in the parking lot. The person ahead of me seemed to work for a driving service, and they had several town cars in the lot waiting to be washed, so I figured they did a good job.
When my turn came around, they told me I could wait in the waiting room and watch TV. This is really the only option. The waiting room is small with a few chairs and a few old computers and a TV. I was waiting next to someone's lunch, which was weird.
The car looked great when they were finished, but when I got home I had to open the trunk to put something in, and found that they hadn't touched it. I don't know if this is an unwritten rule for car detailing, but vacuum my trunk! It's a prime reason I take my car to these places is to have the trunk vacuumed and cleaned out. It was gross after a few days of camping, and there was some glitter spilled in it, and it's all still there.
What with the wait, the weird waiting room, and the lack of trunk cleaning, I'll probably keep looking. Not worth the price of $25 for a car wash and detailing. read more
