You always hope and want new restaurants to succeed but to be fair to both people reading reviews and the restaurant I could only give it a solid 4 stars for the food and 5 stars for their service. I recognize that the restaurant recently opened so they are still working out the kinks.
There is only one other Japanese restaurant close by so there is pent up demand for Japanese food in the neighborhood so there was a line of customers and backlog of phone orders. We ordered on-line and were given an hour and 15 minute pick-up time. Once I got there I could see they were overwhelmed so it took another 10 minutes to get our food. I thought the total elapsed time to get our food was fine due to the challenges of being a new restaurant and being in high demand.
We ordered the mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura, chicken karaage, pan fried gyoza and a Warrior Roll. We liked that the tempura had more vegetables than other restaurants but it was a little on the oily side, the same as the chicken karaage but it was moist and flavorful, the gyoza is actually deep fried versus pan fried but excellent flavor and comes with a very tasty dipping sauce and the sushi roll was on the smaller side but fresh.
We will wait a few weeks and definitely so back; hopefully most of the start-up kinks will be worked out by that time. The staff is very pleasant and you can tell they are all working hard to provide an excellent dining experience. I hope they are overwhelming successful so we have choices close by. I love they are open until 11:59 pm for us late eaters read more
