This was an awesome place to camp, we stayed at the furthest campground about 35 miles out from entrance to park. I hadn't seen any reviews telling about the drive along the walls of rick two lane road and cliff to the one side..... I'm not easily scared but it was something. Yes it was a massively wonderful drive, you have to experience it. What a canyon!! It's marvelously beautiful. We stayed at moraine CG but if I was to go again I'd stay at sentinel much prettier and greener. But it's all nice, the bugs are killing too many trees and so many of them are dead and marked to be chopped down. The River was spectacular and many places to see and hike and view. Horseback rides near cedar grove motel. Bear boxes should and need to be utilized! Or your stuff will get impounded ..... I know. we had to put up our tent screen ,and wasps come out crazy! They didn't attack but no one likes bees. We were there in August 2015. HOT, so bring your EZ up. There are no rangers or hosts,@ camp ;they do drive by at least every hour thank goodness. Drive to Hume lake about an hour, no luck fishing. We did see two bears, 3 bucks, several deer. Pretty birds. Showers about a mile away$2 for 6 min. Next time we will try grants Grove area. read more
