The view from Mount Constitution in Moran State Park is endless! After a long drive along the twisting, winding road leading to the tippy top of the island, visitors are greeted by a stunning vista point showcasing all of the natural beauty of the San Juan Islands. Whether you climb the tower for an elevated view, or just lean onto the stone railings surrounding the viewpoint area, you won't be disappointed. In fact, Mount Constitution is the highest point in the entire island chain, at 2,407 feet! My husband and I lucked out visiting on a sunny day, but I can imagine being engulfed by the clouds in this magical place must be a wonderful experience as well.
Please drive with caution as you make your way to Mount Constitution. The two lane road is narrow and in need of development in some areas. Don't let careless drivers intimidate you into driving too quickly, take your time and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The road passes through densely wooded stretches of forest, beside pristine lakes, and adorable farms dotting the landscape. Don't let the mountain be your only destination, enjoy all of the splendor the island has to offer.
Upon reaching Mount Constitution, visitors will find adequate parking, as well as well-maintained facilities. There is a short, steep walk from the parking lot to the lookout, but it's worth any effort required to take in such a gorgeous view! read more
