Macclesfield Town FC are close to my heart. My great uncle Wilf Hall played for silkmen for most of his career, and was always a legend around Macc. I've visited the Moss Rose on numerous occasions and seen its ins and outs. It really is a great family club, and whilst not as illustrious as the nearby Manchester United or Manchester City, its an equally joyous day out. Macclesfield are a league two side currently flirting with the relegation zone, but spirits are always high and the likelihood is that Macc will stay in the football with relative ease. For the football fans out there, current star players include dangerous midfielder Lee Bell and rising potential includes 19 year old Kristian Dennis, who has scored as a substitute this season. Macc have been at the Moss Rose since around 1990, and the stadium has a capacity of just over 6000. Over 2000 of these are seated and the rest are standing. The standing football experience is one I would recommend, as it can't be experienced in the Premiership. A hot cup of Bovril and a sausage roll whilst standing on the terraces watching some proper football just cannot be beaten. If you fancy a little more luxury though, The Sammy McIlroy Suite is a lovely bar area with a full range of drinks and snacks, and you still get seats just outside with an excellent view. Macclesfield Town are a genuinely great football club, well worth a visit whether you're a seasoned football expert or just looking to enjoy Saturday afternoon. read more
