Nan's Donuts may be the closest thing to heaven that exists on this planet. Nan's is a tiny shop tucked away on side street in Loganton, PA. The shop is next door to a small market; both are part of a renovated schoolhouse building The donuts are to die for and freshly made when the shop is open. They are also quite rich which means they are a perfect pairing with coffee. I believe the proprietors are Amish, hence no pictures of the extremely helpful and unfailingly polite staff. Seriously--you may hear snippets of "Pennsylvania Dutch" (actually a German dialect). Quirks: the shop is only open Wednesday and Saturday, 6 AM to 2 PM. That's right: two days a week. Period. I strongly suggest getting there early if visiting on a Saturday. Cash only As alluded earlier, it isn't easy to find on your first visit but well worth it. read more
