Cozy Basement bar in with inventive cocktails, live music, and tasty bar snacks.
Lucky enough to sneak in solo on a Saturday night. There's a £6 cover to support the live music, but this is not a "grab a quick drink" experience , so was happy to spend some extra ducats on the musicians.
Extensive cocktail menu catering to a wide variety of tastes, from spirit-forward to more fruity and fizzy. Some of the recipes and presentations are over the top, but everything I had was a sensory surprise so am respecting their attention to delivering a well-crafted, balanced drink. They will also make classics.
Had to only wait outside briefly and was seated at a great table near the bar. Service was attentive throughout the evening, even though the place was at capacity. Live music added a lot to the ambience, but wasn't too loud to drown out conversation. Tried two bar snacks--tarallini and salamini--which were delicious and generous considering the £3 price, and paired really nicely with the cocktails I had.
Pricey? Sure, but considering the overall experience and level of craft, I think it warrants the higher price tag. Would definitely go back. read more
