Olympic Donuts has been a fixture in the city of Pico Rivera for over 20 years. It's a family-owned business and they know all of their regular customers. The owners, a husband and wife, have formed a bond with locals for years. They also speak enough Spanish to carry on a meaningful conversation with a lot of dual language residents. With that being said, this small business is very popular among locals. Olympic Donuts is located on the corner of Rosemead Blvd and Telegraph Road. It's in a small two-story strip mall, on the east side of the structure. Parking is tough at times as many people leave their cars in the lot to catch the bus. Key times in which parking is convenient are anytime before 7:00 AM and after 5:30 PM. One thing that I like about Olympic Donuts is that they are true traditionalists. They tried to step it up by adding Oreo Cookies and Fruit Loops Cereal to their glazed donuts but that didn't go over well. People want a simple, straight forward, delicious donut. They stick to the basics giving you freshly baked, fluffy, and decent sized selections. I know some of us, including myself, are obsessed with the creativity that has gone into producing donuts that are one step ahead of the competition. However, many people prefer the taste of a simple donut. These donuts are plump, perfectly iced, and have great flavor. Even if you get there after 5:00, they still taste close enough to to fresh. I don't know what they're doing when they bake their donuts, but they need to keep it up! Given that Olympic Donuts is open 24 hours, many find it convenient to stop by at any time of the day. I have come here late at night and still found people sitting at the booths, reading the newspaper and just relaxing. No matter the time or day that you stop by, you will always be greeted by friendly people behind the counter. They always remember your last conversation and ask you how life has been since your last visit. I absolutely love that the owner's husband always tells me, "See you tomorrow". They never know when they'll see me but they're always happy when I stop by. Their donuts used to cost $0.80 but now their average price is $0.90. They're worth every penny and they tend to toss in a free donut hole or two! When I bought a few dozen donuts for my coworkers, they gave me a free donut on top of that! Speaking of my coworkers, whenever I've brought some of Olympic Donuts' tasty treats to work, there were never any leftovers. People constantly asked where I bought the donuts and they're surprised as to the quality of the donuts from this little shop. My students also love their donuts as well. Nothing beats the deliciousness of Olympic Donuts! These donuts have been kid-tested and coworker approved! At the moment, there is a lot of construction on Telegraph Road so it can be a bit tricky getting in and out of the lot.
